Olson Visual worked on the continuing permanent exhibition Becoming Los Angeles at Natural History Museum. It’s the story of LA and how it started as a tiny pueblo to a large sprawling city. Visitors will see how the Native people have shaped this city through artifacts on display. There is also a story on the great depression and the wild wild west. Charlie Chaplin and women’s labor movement are also apart of this narrative. Some of the items to not miss are: a sewing machine from Alpert of Hollywood, Betty Grable’s Red Tutu, Vaquero Saddle, Tongva Beads, and Toshiba Transistor Radio. 45,000 people attended the Palm Springs Convention center to celebrate Modernism Week and Palm Springs Fine Art Fair. This event celebrates mid-century modern design and Contemporary Art. There are over one hundred events with panel discussions, home tours, docent tours, and artist talks. It took place February 12th to the 15th. This will be the fourth edition of the Palm Springs Fine Art fair which features the top twentieth and twenty-first art. This internationally known event has a lineup of over sixty-six galleries from seven countries and thirty three cities. This summer, images of great American art will be displayed as part of “the largest outdoor art show ever conceived.” The 58 artworks that will comprise the Art Everywhere US campaign will be be seen from coast-to-coast throughout August. You can visit an online map that will show you exactly where all the pieces are located within the United States including here, in Los Angeles. For example, William de Kooning’s Excavation from 1950 can be seen on Martin King Jr. Blvd. and Marlton. Look out for a Cindy Sherman (Untitled, 2008) on Wilshire and Sawtelle. Art Everywhere continues to be a global movement that started in the UK. Three children have a special deep friendship that will change forever. First their area where they live goes under construction making their families move. Sounds like Goonies? Right before this move, 2 days to be exact, (sounds more like Goonies), they receive strange signals from their phones. They meet up with another schoolmate named Emma. They all start to research on these strange happenings. They find a tiny alien who came to earth and is now stranded. The alien asks for their assistance to find his way back home. Dwell on Design was a 3 day convention with demonstrations, seminars, and classes that are for the design community. Located at the Los Angeles Convention Center June twentieth to the twenty-second of 2014, the event created the experience of “stepping into the pages of Dwell” magazine. It had cutting-edge technology, ninety programs, more than two thousand modern products, two hundred speakers, and amazing exhibitions. This makes this special weekend the most epic design event in America. Olson Visual teamed up with A+D Museum Los Angeles to create a dynamic booth using OV’s T3 system. Olson Visual recently created a giant 6 sided backlit display box to promote 3 upcoming releases: Fox’s THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY and WALKING WITH DINOSAURS and Dreamworks Animation’s MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN. Each of the film titles had 2 sides devoted to it. This 9 foot high X 7 foot wide unusually shaped 6 sided eye catching giant box display was made possible by using the ultimately versatile T3 framing system which can be constructed into virtually ANY shape or size.
