Bladerunner 2049 is a neo-noirsccience fiction movie starring Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Jared Leto, and Harrison Ford. The film adopts similar technological advancements and set thirty years later from the original. Goslings character K, investigates a war between replicants and humans. K works for Wallace Corporation (a manufacturer of replicants) and uncovers a DNA archive of Rachael, one of the main characters from the original film. The CEO Niander Wallace wants to find the original child of Rachael and has K followed. K goes to a farm where he finds a carved tree and has a memory of a toy horse. He then realizes he might be the missing child. The movie was nominated for several Academy Awards but unfortunately, only took Best Cinematography and Visual Effects. Smurfs: The Lost Village is a fully 3D computer-animated film with the voices of Rainn Wilson, Michelle Rodriguez, Julia Roberts, and Demi Lovato. The movie is based off the comic book by Peyo. It was released on April 7, 2017 and is another addition to the series. Unfortunately, it was lowest-making movie of the Smurfs franchise and received mixed reviews. Olson Visual worked on the film Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. They created amazing large-scale graphics. This included gigantic banners and a backlit using the T3 system. Check out these photos at numerous projects around the Los Angeles area. Ghostbusters hit theaters in April 2017. It was directed by Paul Feig and starred Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon. It was different from the original series from the 1980s. It instead followed followed a all-female cast. Bill Murray refused to make another Ghostbusters, partly from the death of Harold Ramis in 2014. The budget was quite much at $144 million. Olson Visual worked on many Academy Award nominated films. Here are a few selected images of the work they did. They created a wonderful marquee for Florence Foster Jenkins, a film that stars Meryl Streep. She is once again nominated for Best Actress playing a non-fictional character a comedy. Olson Visual did a fantastic marquee for the film Sully, which is nominated for Best Sound Editing. Check out the OV’s T3 structure for the movie Arrival. It is the beginning of 2017 and we look at last year with some exciting achievements. We created many graphics for the top movies including: a billboard for the Everest, photo opp graphics for The Angry Birds Movie, backlit graphics for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and a large costume and prop display for the film Warcraft. Another highlight was creating the large banners for the opening of the Cerritos Theater. 2016 was also a year that we entered the European marketplace at CineEurope.
The third edition to The Da Vinci Code is Inferno, based off the famous novel by Dan Brown. Tom Hanks stars once again as the symbologist Robert Langdon. His character has only so much time to figure out how to stop a madmen (played by Ben Foster) from killing people. The madmen tries to unleash a virus upon everyone and has set a clock, making this an edge-of-your-seat-thriller! He plays alongside Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones) and Omar Sy. It is directed by Ron Howard. Filming commenced on April 27th of 2015 in Venice, Italy and ended in Budapest. It premiered in Florence on October 9th of 2016. The Angry Birds Movie is coming to theaters in the future! It is an American-Finnish 3D film based off the famous video game. Directed by Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis and produced by Catherine Winder John Cohen, this family fun animation will warm your heart. There are a few celebrities that have devoted their voice. Olson Visual is proud to have worked on the Academy Award nominated films including Joy, Everest, Mad Max, The Martian, Steve Jobs, Straight Outta Compton, and The Danish Girl. On February 29th, the ceremony took place at the Dolby Theatre. Some went home empty handed while others won numerous golds. One in particular was the science fiction film, Mad Max Fury Road which took home five Academy Awards including best: Production Design, Sound Mixing, Production Design, Sound Editing, Costume Design, and Makeup. Alicia Vikander took the gold home for her work in The Danish Girl. The Martian was nominated for Production Design, Visual Effects, Sound Mixing and Editing but went home empty handed. Sicario was nominated for Cinematography but lost to Revenant. Straight Outta Compton was a contender for Best Original Screenplay but instead the film Spotlight won which also won for Best Picture. Chappie is a new science fiction movie that stars Hugh Jackman and Sigourney Weaver. It is directed by Neil Blomkamp and written by Terri Tatchell and Blomkamp. It was originally a short film called Tetra Vaal. Olson Visual created some amazing graphics for numerous Los Angeles Theatres. They made a large backlit graphic that was free-standing using our T3 System at Century City Theatres. The T3 System was also used for Bella Terra. They also completed a window and wall graphics. APRIL 23 – 26, 2012 Now that the dust is settling at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas after a week of Celebrating the Moviegoing Experience at CinemaCon 2012, it’s time to reminisce about the highlights of the second installment of the recently rebranded biggest Industry Event of the Year. For many attendees, the back-to-back events created a rapid fire revolving door of exciting Studio presentations, seminars, meetings and parties that left them dizzy with excitement. Olson Visual is the official graphics provider for CinemaCon and as such, printed and installed most of the signage you saw at CinemaCon. All the elevator doors, escalator walls, floors, mirrors and walls were decorated with graphics printed by Olson Visual. Our crew started installing the graphics the weekend before CinemaCon and worked every day seamlessly during the convention changing out various graphics for each event.
