It is now 2018 and we look back at our achievements throughout the year. We have been increasingly busy by creating work for top blockbuster films including: Logan, Despicable 3, Kong: Skull Island, The Great Wall, Ghost in the Shell, Alien Covenant, Baywatch, and many others. These graphics also allowed us to offer new products including: inflatable and customized large scale backlit prop and display using our T3 System. This year we expanded our locations in New York and other cities in the United States. We also created large scale step and repeats for Miss Universe and a pop-up for Air Jordan. Wonder Woman was not just your typical superhero film from DC Comics. Instead it was the first female director of a live-action superhero film (Patty Jenkins) and showed a female comic book character played by Gal Gadot. Other actors include: Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, and Chris Pine. Wonder Woman debuted in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film tells a different story then the 1980s Wonder Woman TV show. Instead, Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) grows up on the Amazon island of Themyscira. Steve Trevor, an American pilot crashes near the island and is rescued by the Wonder Woman. Trevor tells of the war going on outside the island area. This pushes Diana to go with him to end World War. It premiered in Shanghai, China on May 15, 2017 and later in the U.S. on June 2, 2017. Olson Visual installed numerous window and backlit graphics for the film, Logan. Logan was the 10th installment of the X-men series and the 3rd Wolverine film. Inspired by the Old Man Logan comic-books written by Steve McNiven and Mark Miller, this story takes place when Wolverine is aged. He has to defend his daughter from villains. The movie is directed by James Mangold and stars once again, Hugh Jackman as Logan. This will be his final portrayal of the character after playing him for seventeen years. Other co-stars include: Richard E. Grant and Patrick Stewart. Principal photography started on May 2, 2016 in Louisiana and finished in New Mexico and Mississippi. It premiered on Feb. 17, 2017 at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival and was later released in the US on March 3, 2017. Logan was well-received from both movie-goers and critics. Kong: Skull Island is another reboot of the franchise that stars Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, John Goodman, and Brie Larson. The plot follows a team of scientists and soldiers who land on a deserted island in the Pacific. They encounter lots of monsters including the gigantic Kong. It was primarily shot in Hawaii and around Vietnam starting October 2015. It was considered a success at the box office and with the critics. It took home $566 million worldwide. There is already a sequel, Godzilla vs. Kong to release in 2020. Kong: Skull Island is now available for Direct TV. Olson Visual installed numerous graphics for the film. This included: column wraps, escalator, elevator, window, and parking graphics. They also created a costume and prop display and a large graphic using their famous T3 System. Olson Visual installed numerous graphics for Alien: Covenant. The 2017 movie was directed by Ridley Scott and a sequel to Prometheus in 2012. It stars Billy Crudup, Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, and Katherine Waterston. The filming took place in New Zealand and was released on May 19th in the US. Although it grossed $240 million worldwide, it was not well received in the United States. Movie-goers did not praise the film but critics had the opposite to say about it. A.O. Scott of The New York Times stated, “Alien: Covenant is an interesting movie … for all its interplanetary ranging, it commits itself above all to the canny management of expectations.” OV installed and created many graphics for the film. Smurfs: The Lost Village is a fully 3D computer-animated film with the voices of Rainn Wilson, Michelle Rodriguez, Julia Roberts, and Demi Lovato. The movie is based off the comic book by Peyo. It was released on April 7, 2017 and is another addition to the series. Unfortunately, it was lowest-making movie of the Smurfs franchise and received mixed reviews. This year’s Power Rangers film came out in March earlier this year. It was directed by Dean Israelite and it the 3rd movie of the franchise reboot. It stars Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Banks. This is the first time that Hollywood has created LGBTQ and autistic superheroes. Unfortunately, it was a box office disappointment with mixed reviews. The Los City of Z is now available on Amazon to watch and highly recommend it. The film is a true story from the David Grann book by the same title. The main character is real-life explorer Percy Fawcett who was sent to Bolivia as a cartographer. While on his journey he finds evidence of a lost civilization that he calls “Z”. Him and two other man including Henry Costin (played by Robert Pattinson) make several attempts but never quite reach their destination. In his final attempt, he brings his son with him and they never return. Many experts felt they were caught by violent Indians and were murdered. There were many search parties that tried to find them (or their remains) but were unsuccessful. Baywatch is a new film based off the 90s long-running TV series by the same name. The movie stars Zac Efron, Dwayne Johnson, Priyanka Chopra, and Kelly Rohrbach. Unlike the original series that was set in Malibu, this remake takes place in Broward County, Florida. The main story follows the character Mitch and his Baywatch team to save the beach from a drug dealer. Unfortunately, the film has had bad reviews saying it shouldn’t have turned it into a crime caper. There was a lot of positive critique that Johnson and Efron had great chemistry and are quite fun to watch. It has grossed already $173 million worldwide.
